Roger Federer returned to the US Open on Tuesday night for a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Billed as «Roger Federer: An Icon Returns to New York,» the event featured the Swiss legend competing against Andy Roddick in singles before Federer teamed with John McEnroe for a doubles match against Roddick and Andre Agassi.
“It’s great to be back in New York,” said Federer, who last competed at the US Open in 2019 and retired in 2022. “It’s incredible. I have incredible memories of this court, the fans here, the city. In 2004, 2005, that’s when it all started here, my love for New York, with the victories here.”
